Meet Maasch County Acres Kimber! Kimber is a purebred German Shepherd born on May 2, 2016. From the moment we brought him home he had a gentle, quiet spirit and I had hoped to train him to be a therapy dog. As we worked and trained together it became very clear to me that he was perfect for that job. We began visiting my mom in her assisted living home from the time he was 10 weeks old. He was always gentle and never used his teeth like a normal puppy his age would. If I did show up without Kimber I was quickly reprimanded from several people. :) My mom was in the hospital and ICU allot the last 6 months of her life so Kimber was able to work in the hospital setting as well. He was always welcomed with big smiles and compliments with how calm and gentle he was and he had people from other floors coming to visit with him! In May of 2017 my mom took a turn for the worse and was on hospice care. The facility she lived at required the family to be with her 24/7 as they were just an assisted living home. Kimber and I basically moved in and stayed with her until she passed away. During our time there he would constantly go into her room and check on her. A few times in the middle of the night she was needing help and I could not hear her, Kimber woke me up to alert me. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without him by my side. He just knew when I needed him to come lay next to me and snuggled with me during the times I would break down.
Kimber has earned his CGC, AKC Advanced trick dog title (TKA), AKC Barn hunt Novice Title (BHN), Barn hunt Open Title (BHO), AKC Therapy Dog Advance (THDA) registered through Alliance of Therapy dogs. UKC Rally Open Obedience Title. He is currently working toward his Barn Hunt Senior title, getting started in Nosework and tracking. Thank you for taking the time to read about my sweet boy and stay tuned for updates~
